How it Works

Red Bend's vRapid Mobile™ FOTA solution enables mobile phone manufacturers to create firmware updates for handsets and to deploy and install the updated firmware over the air. Based on Red Bend's patented algorithms, the solution consists of three primary elements:

• vRapid Mobile FOTA's Update Generator provides tools that enable developers to identify the essential changes from an existing firmware version to a new, updated version and automatically create an extremely compact package of the updated firmware.
• vRapid Mobile FOTA's Update Installer resides in the memory on the handset itself and manages the update installation process, optimizing the limited memory available within the device and ensuring accurate and secure updates.
• The Red Bend device management (DM) client, vDirect Mobile™, allows mobile operators and handset manufacturers to remotely manage mobile devices in the field. The Red Bend DM client is standards-based software that works with any Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) DM-based server to allow operators to provision, support and update mobile devices over the air.
